The Good Life

By September 1, 2013 Canada

No matter how far and wide my wanderlust may take me, I know that I will never find another place quite like home. I was reminded of this after a very special week and a half spent with family at my parent’s cabin on the  Ottawa River. After a busy Toronto summer I quickly fell into a routine of morning dips in the lake, days spent helping Dad on his latest renovations, and evening kayaks as the sun set below the horizon. I found myself pausing more, cherishing the time spent with loved ones and the happiness that comes from living simply and in the moment. It was a reminder of why I want to strive to forge a career that, as much as possible, allows me earn a livelihood from wherever I happen to be.

On my final morning I sat on the dock, feet dangling in cool water below, trying to soak in every last shade of blue, green and grey in the distance.  I eventually peeled myself away, knowing that no matter how long I stayed I would never get enough of this view.

Here are some of my favourite photos that capture my week in our own little slice of paradise.
